The central government has approved the Environmental Impact Declaration for the construction of a hybrid solar thermal plant with photovoltaic in Fuentes de Andalucía with 150 megawatts installed. The City Council hopes that it will start up at the end of this year if there are no administration problems and that this energy infrastructure can have an economic impact on the municipality of about 15 million euros.

The local government in the Fuentes de Andalucía City Council considers that with this environmental declaration a fundamental procedure has been completed that brings the project closer to execution. The Consistory expects it to start at the end of this year 2023, if there are no administrative problems or during its processing.

The Fuentes de Andalucía City Council and the promoter, Sener, have signed a collaboration agreement to promote training aimed at the maintenance and activity of this plant and to encourage job creation in the town. The mayor of Fuentes de Andalucía, Francisco Martínez, estimates that some 50 jobs can be generated.

The plant is going to be installed in Fuentes de Andalucía, where there is already a one hundred percent solar thermal plant, but the set of facilities, adding the energy evacuation lines, also cover the municipalities of La Campana and Carmona.

According to the promoter company, this hybrid plant will be able to generate electricity 24 hours a day, injecting it into the network, through a high voltage evacuation line (220 kV) to the Carmona substation, in Seville. This hybrid solar thermal and photovoltaic plant will be located in a space set up in Fuentes de Andalucía, where the Gemasolar tower plant carried out by Sener is located, in operation since 2011.

The purpose of the project is the construction, operation and maintenance of a hybrid 110 MWp parabolic trough solar thermal plant and a 40 MWp photovoltaic plant called SOLGEST-1, and a 220 kV high-voltage overhead power line to evacuate the generated energy up to a collector substation.

SENER Ingeniera – Solgest-1 Hybrid Solar Plant 150 MW – Andalusia involves the construction of the Solgest-1 Hybrid Solar Plant power plant on a 268ha area in Seville, Andalusia, Spain. The US$424 million project includes the following:

1. Construction of a 110MW solar thermal plant with a molten salt thermal storage system with two tanks with a storage capacity of 1,900MWh2. Construction of a 40MW photovoltaic plant3. Construction of substations
